Brief Overview:

 

South Island Lee Gar Boxing Academy was established in 2011 with the aim of promoting personal fitness excellence through personal and knowledgeable instruction.

 

We are able to provide instruction in:

 

1. Personal fitness training:

 

- Individual fitness evaluations and assessments.

 

- The design of personalised training programs focused on each client's individual personal fitness goals.

 

- One-on-one instruction to enable maximum results to be achieved within an optimum time period, and in a safe and effective manner.

 

2. Kickboxing/Boxing related training:

 

- Specific kickboxing/boxing training, whether for fitness or competitive purposes, utilising Wayne's extensive knowledge and experience in these  areas.

Wayne Vaega

 

Profile:

 

1979

- Began kickboxing training under Sifu Phillip Lam in the Lee Gar kung fu style.

- Represented New Zealand in the under 20 basketball team in 1979, and was also offered a scholarship to Fresno Junior College during this time. The scholarship offer was declined down so that Wayne could accompany the New Zealand team to the World Kung Fu Tournament in Hawaii (see below).

 

1980

- Represented New Zealand at the World Kung Fu Tournament in Hawaii in 1980. He finished third in this tournament.

 

1995

- Started teaching Muay Thai kickboxing to local residents in Queenstown, New Zealand.

 

2007

- Completed the Master Trainer personal training course.

 

Fighting record:

 

- 31 full contact kick boxing fights (Thai rules)

- 29 wins and 2 losses

                            

- 6 WKA fights (American rules).

- 5 wins and 1 loss

 

- 2 PKC rules fights

- 1 win and 1 loss

 

- Reigning Tae Kwon Do black-belt division champion for 2 years

 

- Winner of 9 New Zealand titles (3 x light-heavyweight titles and 6 x heavyweight titles)
